Materials: Steel, florescent light fixtures, frosted Plexiglass
Dimensions: 9' tall, 30" wide
Description: This Ladder was built out of need for an apartment that
I lived in. There was a loft without any access, so I came up with a
creative solution. I envisioned a short handrail that was in the
shape of waves flowing towards the center of the loft. The railing
would flow towards this ladder, which was the "Waterfall". It has two
florescent fixtures in the rear who's light is diffused by a piece of
1/2" frosted plexiglass. The light then silouettes the ladder's
rungs, which are in the functional and stylized shape of cascading
water. It served me very well as a ladder, proving to be quite
functional. At the same time it also served as a beautiful focal
point for the room, a conversation piece, and an accent light.
